African Mission--Bogo

MISSION STATEMENT:

To address the critical and necessary needs of the people in the village of Bogo, West Africa. These needs to be identified by the Nofegali Gbedoxo Church.

Bogo is located in the central area of Togo. Togo is one of the fifteen countries in the Sub Continent of West Africa; currently this small village consists of approximately fifteen hundred residential occupants. Coffee at one time was the primary income producing commodity, but the lack of rain has caused most of these trees to die out, leaving the community financially unstable. Most of the people live in small huts that lack a roof or walls, to protect them from the natural elements. At one time most of these homes would have been considered adequate living arrangement, but because lack of money, maintenance became impossible, allowing erosion to take a toll. They also lack the means of getting medical attention as needed. There is a small clinic that exist in the village, but it is under staffed and hours of operation insufficient. When and if medication is prescribed, that lack of funds make it impossible to purchase. Finally, the church mentioned in the mission statement is over a century old. The building itself is eroding and because of a collapsing foundation a new church building is needed.

We would like to asset each need as it presents itself on a one by one basis. This is where we need you THE PUBLIC to donate funds for this worthy cause. You can donate directly to the Jehovah Church of Jesus Christ Website or to South State Bank, African Mission—Bogo 1121 Boundary Street, Beaufort, South Carolina 29902.
